Accountability

Accountability

Accountability is essential for success. Society’s approach to accountability, particularly holding others accountable, often does more harm than good. People often associate accountability with consequences, usually negative.

At Logos Leadership Development, we take a positive and proactive approach that helps employees take ownership of their jobs, tasks, and outcomes, increasing their confidence and commitment to the objectives and the organization.

Personal Accountability – Accountability always starts with personal accountability. As a leader, if we shirk our accountability, we demonstrate to others that being responsible for your position, tasks, or the outcome doesn’t matter. Leaders are role models that others follow and emulate. Our Accountability program focuses on leaders’ actions to create personal accountability and demonstrate that accountability to others. We will help you identify your pressing issues to resolve and customize the program to meet your needs.

Topics include:

Developing ownership over your role and the capacity to accept the outcome, good or bad, enables you to use the result as a data point from which you can adapt, change, and grow. Your ability to hold yourself accountable, learn, and develop determines your ability to achieve your most important objectives. Additionally, our program helps you identify sources that interfere with learning and growth and remove them to clear the path to accomplishment.

Blaming others creates a destructive force within any organization. The Logos Leadership approach to developing accountability provides strategies to identify victimhood and eliminate it from your business so you can accomplish the essential goals of your firm.

Ultimately, accountability requires a call to action. Our program helps you identify obstacles that inhibit action and provides strategies to ensure actions occur. Greatness doesn't happen overnight. Extraordinary outcomes occur through many small, incremental steps. Our program helps you develop an action plan for success.

Holding Others Accountable – People typically view accountability negatively. “I am going to hold you accountable” has unfavorable connotations and generates fear and apprehension in those being held accountable. Holding people accountable using the traditional definition results in minimal performance, hurt relationships, and collateral damage. This approach to accountability may stop poor behavior, but there are no guarantees it will lead to productive behavior. We define accountability as accepting ownership and responsibility for completing the task and the willingness to face the consequences of success or failure. Our program helps you internalize the requirements for a positive approach to holding others accountable. The Logos approach will help your organization develop a culture of accountability built through trust, character, competence, and caring. Leaders, by definition, lead the charge toward positive accountability. Always remember that you are a role model. People follow your lead. You must walk the talk and perform the behaviors you espouse. Our program helps you make decisions regarding:

  • Is the issue worthy of our attention and effort?
  • How do I proactively engage in the conversation?
  • How can I identify and eliminate my assumptions about the issue and ensure my story and facts are accurate?
  • What is the gap between my current reality and my expectations?
  • How do I develop the motivation and commitment in others to achieve exceptional results?
  • How do I positively define the consequences of success and failure?

Leaders and organizations must support their employees and hold people accountable to achieve results. Our accountability program helps you identify the essential areas requiring support and implement a strategy. All accountability, whether personal or organizational, requires action. Our program enables you to create a solid game plan to take the actions necessary to achieve extraordinary results.
